Siberian Husky dogs make very good family companions if they are treated correctly and with love. Although these dogs are known not to bark too much, they may sing together with sirens or scream as if they are being killed when they are ordered to do something they do not want to do. Actually this breed is not for every person, it better suits those who have already had a dog and who have had a great amount of experience in training and handling a dog.
These dogs easily get used to the family with whom they live, but they are not very obedient animals. The Siberian Husky dog will obey until there is nothing more interesting to do. As they are intelligent and they can easily get bored, repetitive training should be broken down into 15 minutes intervals twice a day. Effort, patience and consistency
are key to an obedient Husky.
They like to act on their own; they wander around the house and dig holes under the fence. As the dog is very big and may be dangerous for other people, it cannot be allowed to roam about the streets without owner's observation. Also if left alone, Siberian Huskies may get lost, stolen or even hit by a car.
Siberian Huskies - Care
Siberian Huskies are not easily cared for dogs. The dogs shed a lot every year and this process lasts about two or three weeks. In fact the absence of the undercoat during the shedding season is normal. You may trim the whiskers and between the toes and around the feet to present a neater appearance to the dog. Trimming the fur on any other part of the dog is not to be condoned and should be severely penalized. The coat of Siberian Husky dogs needs combing at least once or twice a day to look neat. Siberian Huskies - Siberian Huskies are working dogs and should display a considerable amount of strength. Dogs that come close to the official AKC standard are compactly built and do not show any signs of being overweight. Males are usually bigger than females. Their height ranges from 21 to 23 inches when measured at the withers. Females are rather feminine, yet showing no weakness. They reach the height of about 20-22 inches and weight from 35 to 50 pounds, ten pounds less than males.
Overall, Siberian Huskies are balanced dogs and should have well-proportioned bodies. The dog's body is slightly longer than it is tall, with a straight back and well-sprung ribs.
