Siberian Huskies - Color

Siberian Husky dogs come in all colors from black to pure white and all are allowed. A variety of markings on the head are also usual. There may be a variety of markings on the head including many striking patterns not found in other breeds. The divergence of color may be great. These dogs come in the following colors: black and white, red and white, gray and white, sable and white, agouti and white. All these colors may range from white to dark.

The facemask and underbody are usually white and is not dependent on the color of the dog. The eyes are almond shaped and set a little aslant. It is not true that all the dogs of this breed have blue eyes. They can also have eyes that are blue, brown, amber, or any combination thereof to include eyes that are half blue and half brown. Sometimes one eye of the Siberian Husky Dog is blue and the other is brown and it is quite acceptable.

Siberian Huskies - Living Conditions

As the Siberian Husky is a northern breed that was used as a working dog and kept outside, it does not feel all right in apartments. Although these dogs can live in an apartment too, they must be well trained and have enough time to walk outside. The breed is very active out-of-doors and it likes to play, so it is better for them if there is a yard where it can run. Also the Siberian Husky Dog prefers to live in a pack, thus, it is good if the dog is not the only one in your household.

Life Expectancy Siberian Huskies usually live about 12-15 years if properly exercised, fed and treated.

Siberian Huskies - Temperament

Siberian Huskies are not a dog for only one person; they are very good with all members of the family. Siberian Husky Dogs are very intelligent, although there may be problems with training because the dogs may be stubborn and will only obey a command if they see the point. That is why training takes patience, consistency and an understanding of the Arctic dog's character.

The dog is a sled dog by its nature and likes to move around a lot. Thus, it will be an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot.

As with any other creature, each Siberian Husky Dog has its own nature and identity. They are cheerful dogs that adore the family with whom they live. They do not like to be left alone, as they are team dogs, so it is better if there are at least two dogs. One lonely Siberian Husky Dog can be destructive.

The dog gets along with children well and it likes to play with them very much. The breed is also good with other pets if they are raised together from puppy hood. And, it goes without saying that every dog must have a sound and stable temperament. To achieve this, it actually requires a lot of work from both: a dog and an owner. The dog's training is easier when the latter is involved in the teamwork.

Siberian Huskies have a charming temperament; they are kind but not flattering. They must have acquired such a gentle disposition as a heritage from their past since the Chukchi people held their dogs in great esteem. They kept them in their family shelters and encouraged their children to play with them. And, as far as strangers are concerned Siberian Huskies are friendly with them too. However, Siberian Husky dogs are loyal to those that they love.
